Fields
| Field | Type | Required | Default | Allowed values | Description |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
restLength | number | no | Spring length in metres with the vehicle unloaded. Greater than zero. | ||
travel | number | no | How far in metres the spring may compress from rest. Greater than zero. It is checked against the ground clearance under the chassis collider by vehicle-geometry. | ||
stiffness | number | no | Spring rate in newtons per metre. Greater than zero. A rough starting point is the corner's share of the vehicle's weight divided by the sag you want, so a 2,000 kg car on four wheels with 0.08 m of sag wants about 61,000 N/m. | ||
dampingCompression | number | no | Damper rate in newton-seconds per metre while the spring is compressing. Zero or more. Normally the smaller of the two, so a wheel absorbs a bump and releases it slowly. | ||
dampingRelaxation | number | no | Damper rate in newton-seconds per metre while the spring is extending. Zero or more, and normally larger than dampingCompression. | ||
maxForce | number | no | Ceiling in newtons on what this spring may push with, whatever the compression. Greater than zero. It is what stops a stiff spring firing the chassis into the air after a hard landing at a 60 Hz tick. |
